TuneMyParrot

In my last post I talked about just how cool TextParrot is and I just find it a god send of a application. The besides the cool voices you get with TextParrot and it being able to export to iTunes there is one thing that I craved for, that is to add extra iTunes data when exporting. So over the weekend I came up with TuneMyParrot. This application lets you extend the power of TextParrot's iTunes export, to add extra iTunes data about your track. To download - click here

US RT fun

When looking back about 6 years ago when I first learnt to fly in the US the hardest thing to get use to was the RT. Back here in the UK RT it tends to be very procedural. Today I came across this lovely audio clip from JFK ground and it remided me of my time flying out in the US. To check out this clip go to the Trip Report blog.

TextParrot for the Mac

TextParrot is a fantastic application for converting text to speech using human voices. It also exports text as a audio file to iTunes, so you can then here to your text documents that you have converted with TextParrot to your iPod. The nice thing about TextParrot is the cost at 39.95 Euros! about £27 when it comes to accessibility application I find they tend to be over priced but TextParrot I think they have just got the pricing just right for students and home users. Just one last word on TextParrot any files you open up in TextParrot or Speack Selection, it will hi-light the words as it speeks them out to you, very cool for keeping track of where you are with in the document. TextParrot supports Text, Word, HTML, PDF and RTF files. So for any one how is dyslexic like my self or wants documents read to then on the fly, then check out TextParrot !

Flickr power

The other day I had a email from the guys at MacUser UK magazine, which was in relation to them wanting to use one of my photos from The BETT Show, in a special education article they where running. So how did they find my photo? well they turned to flickr. After consenting to them using my photo, as my photos are under a Creative Commons license, I've have to say it's strange seeing it in print but of cores it's a nice feeling to see it. At the end of the day I'm not surprised about this kind of for sourcing of image work by magazine companies but I am surprised to be sourced by them. Main Hall at The BETT Show 2007

No joy with Google Earth 4.0.2694

Just downloaded Google Earth 4.0.2694 today and still no joy with categories, on network links listing the correct contents. I think tomorrow I'm going to have a sit down have a closer look at what's going on.

Testing with Google Earth 4.0.2093

So fare it's looking like that Goolge Earth 4.0.2413 is the sticking point with network links and I've just test out version 4.0.2093 on a G5 Mac, with all my links that I've mentioned in my previous post. So my feeling for shore that it's a bug with 4.0.2413.

Technorati Tags:

Google Earth 4.0.2413 network links bug

Well 4.0.2413 has been a interesting one. I've found testing out my KML 2.1 test templates and 2.0 templates throwing up some interesting results. With 4.0.2413 and my test 2.1 templates:

My test blog root - http://blogs.rave.ac.uk/blojsom/blog/aburt/?flavor=kml21

My test Flying category on it's own - http://blogs.rave.ac.uk/blojsom/blog/aburt/Flying/?flavor=kml2_1-category

FireFox plays ball and will render every thing fine in flying category, Google Earth 4.0.2413 on the other hand will render the root category instead, very odd! But if in FireFox say save the contents of http://blogs.rave.ac.uk/blojsom/blog/aburt/Flying/?flavor=kml2_1-category as a file then open that up in Google Earth 4.0.2413 and it's fine with it. I've come to the conclusion that it's a bug with 4.0.2413, as I've tested it out with WinXP version of Google Earth 4.0.2091 on Parallels and it works fine. Also I get the same results with my KML 2.0 templates - http://blogs.rave.ac.uk/blojsom/blog/aburt/?flavor=kml2 as well in 4.0.2413 but then it works fine with in 4.0.2091 and v3 of Google Earth on my 12" PowerBook.

Google Earth templates

I'm aiming to have by the end of the week v2.1 compliant Google Earth templates, as Google Earth 4.0.2413 (beta) is playing up with my existing templates. The existing templates seem to work fine with earlier version Google Earth 3 and 4 (beta), so hopefully I should have a set of templates v2.1 to go.

Finnish baby box

I found out very interesting fact today. With in Finland every expecting family have the choice of €300 - $385.92 USD or a baby box from the government worth €420 - $540.29. I was stunned by this fact! in a way it would be intresting to see what sort of results you would get here in the UK if the government where to run the same program. So what douse this baby box contain you might ask? Well I think that there is more kit in this box then a regular soldier gets when joining the army. With in the box you get what look like baby manuals, nappies, clothing, medical bit's and bobs etc... to see there full offering of kit check out there Finish site - click here. If you click on the images they will enlarge. My Finnish translation skills are some what limited to about zero present. Apparently you can also use the box as a cot as well.
