The best chocolate in town

When in Belgian and in Brussels it's self, I found the best chocolate to be in here, ok I know it looks like a bit of a tourist trap but it worth just seeing from the eye candy point of view, if you excuse the pun /images/emoticons/wink.gif

Norwich's Art Nouveau - Royal Arcade

One of the design classics that I hope the local cancel will not touch, after destroying the old historic market place, by replacing the old market with brightly colored Wendy houses, is the Art Nouveau Royal Arcade. This shopping arcade is just situated off the historic market place in the city center. The design detail is pretty amazing on the outside and if you ever get the chance to go and have a look it's worth it if your in Norwich!

Snow fun

About this time last year I was over in Denmark for a friends dad's birthday, which remind me of the predicted forecast for this week here in London SNOW! The week over in Denmark started niceley but a bit cold as over night, it turned for the worst with very heavy snow! for two to three days. Mind you it only takes about 1cm snow here to stop every thing /images/emoticons/wink.gif

China - The Three Emperors

Also on Saturday we went to the China - The Three Emperors, exhibition up at the Royal Academy of Arts in town. As it was just across the road from itsu, it was quite convent as we just had to cross the road to get there.

The exhibition it's self looks a bit deceptive in physical size as the RA is not that bigger place compared to other galleries in London and at £11 I thought this was a bit steep but I have to say I we not disappointed at all! After about 3 to 4 hours walking-around totally mesmerized by all the amazing artifacts and the history that surrounded them on display. At the end of the exhibition we walked out to be confronted by the shop to which, I succumbed to buying the book of the exhibition at £27.

For more info on the exhibition have a look at www.threeemperors.org.uk. It's on till 17th of April 2006.

itsu

It was just by chance we went here at the weekend. The front of the restaurant was very deceptive! as you got the idea that it was one of those small eat and run places but when you got past the till and down stares it was a very spacious place indeed. The food it's self was very nice, even thou I'm not a full lover of sushi my self. I ended up having Chicken breast, Asian Vagetables, Udon Noodles, which I must say is not bad for me picking something that healthy for me. At the end of the meal we where kindly ushered out by the staff, not because we where bad or any thing but what turned out to be the builders next door setting off the fire alarms in the hole of block hehe...

Mac Google Earth v3.1.0617.0 fixs kmz bug

It looks like the guys at Google Earth have fixed the bug regarding "Network link" kmz files on the Mac.

Just testing it today the latest version of Mac Google Earth v3.1.0617.0. It's now writing out it's temp data to the users temp folder eg:
/var/tmp/folders.502/TemporaryItems/.kmztmp/khTemp_0.kmz

Mac Google Earth v3.1.0527.0 - temp bug fix

If any of you guys out there are have hiving problems with Google Earth version 3.1.0527.0, trying to get it connect to kmz links on "Network Link" folders the is a little bug, that I've discovered and fixed for the time being on the Mac.

The bug is say that if you have more that just one account on your mac ie. a admin account and then say some local or non admin accounts or non admin network accounts running on your mac. Then this buy will most probily affect you.

If you set  "Network Link" folder in Google Earth pointing to any server that is hosting your kmz file eg. http://www.my-server.ac.uk/my-file.kmz or local network server.
Then Google Earth will try and create and hidden folder called .kmztmp inside /Applications/Google Earth.app/Contents/MacOS/
When you install Google Earth by default Google Earth belongs to the admin user that installed it. So when another user tries to use Google Earth and tries to connect to a kmz file though a  "Network Link"  it fails, because that users dues not have permission to create the .kmztmp folder, that it needs to store the kmz data from the "Network Link".

So as a stock gap fix, I loged in as admin user on my mac. Then opened up the Terminal in /Applications/Utilities/Terminal

Next I typed in this comand:
cd /Applications/Google\ Earth.app/Contents/MacOS/

With this command you will be asked for your admin password:
sudo ln -s /var/tmp/ .kmztmp

In a ideal world it would be nice if Google Earth could write out the temp kmz files to the users Application Support, Google Earth folder ie. ~/Library/Application Support/Google Earth/ or the temp folder eg something like this. /var/tmp/folders.502/TemporaryItems/

Why duos this not happen to kml files and  "Network Link"?
KML files are un-compressed versions of kml files, Google Earth can just pull in the raw file as it is from the web or local network server, with out having to temporary save it on you mac, when in using them as "Network Link".

If any one wants to test out the there copy of Google Earth on there mac in crating a "Network Link":

A taste of Middle East

Ok, well Lebanese to be exact /images/emoticons/happy.gif I've never had Lebanese before, until last month and boy was I in for a treat! There were six of us for dinning that night. It was the first time that any of the group I believe had Lebanese.

It was more of the decor then the menu that core our eye in choosing the venue. Once inside and seated, we worked are way though the menu and all of us ended going for the set menu for two and fore.

The choice of going for a set menu might sound some what conservative but we where more then placently surprised. There were several dishes for the starters, with a plater of meats for the main and delight full fruit dish with small cakes for desert. The one notable thing about all the dishes we had, was just how amazingly fresh tasting the food was!

If you've never had Lebanese then go on, you must try it! click here for more info.

The best chips in town

On Saterday we took a genteel stroll down to the sea cow. The sea cow is a trendy fish and chip shop, that I've heard to much about but yet tried my self. When it comes to fish and chips, I have to say I'm some what a little fussy! With Lowestoft laying down the bench mark, when it come's to frying the ideal fish and chips, the sea cow had a lot to live up too. So how did the sea cow do? I have to say I was very impressed but the one thing, the sea cow did have the after aftertaste factor! The aftertaste is the key thing that sets apart very good fish and chips, from grate fish and chips. When 3 to 4 hours after you can still taste the comfort of the batter which gives that enriched memorable experience, you know that you've had the X factor of all fish and chips /images/emoticons/happy.gif

Wall and Piece

I was just looking a my brothers new book today Wall and Piece by Banksy. I have to it one to get !!! It's full of lovely quoits like:
"All artistes are prepared to suffer for their work but why are so few prepared to learn to draw"
The one on the back cover of the book is just grate!
"There's no way you're going to get a quote from us to use on your book cover" - Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
As fare as I'm concerned it's one to have, the art work in side is just fantastic /images/emoticons/happy.gif
